His subject matter is predominantly the landscape of theIrvine Valley round about the town of Newmilns where he stays. In
recent years he has also focused on marine subjects, findinginspiration from various locations in the west coast, namely Troon,
Dunure. Maidens. and Girvan. He works in a variety of media: oils, pastels, gouache and watercolour and finds his inspiration by
working directly in front of the subject throughout the year. Anessential aspect of his working methods is to try to communicate in
his work the excitement that he feels when witnessing an everchanging subject at first hand.
