Todd Garner  painter/sculptor, (U.S.A.) 2000

Photo: TG pic op.

Most Americans are acutely aware that they have an ancestral line that originates somewhere other than America. Growing up in Southern California in a family that emphasised its Scottish roots , it was almost inevitable that I would spend at least some time in Scotland. Through circumstances both in and out of my control , I have settled in Glasgow , a city with a very unique personality which has had a profound effect on my work.

Since moving to Glasgow 9 years ago , my work has steadily become more autobiographical and incorporating more of my own experiences of being away from my native country , trying to adjust to my adopted surroundings and the reality of establishing a home in a foreign but vaguely familiar culture.
